?? about the liquid diets

Hello all Is it mandatory to go on a liquid diest prior to surgery? I have not been to seminar yet but I am trying to know as much as possible before hand. I am just that way . Is there any other things not mentioned that I need to know about? Take care and Thank you Tammy of Wayland

Tammy, it depends on your surgeon. With the Arnot group, you only are on a liquid diet the day before surgery to help clean you out. I have read some posts for other places that they require it. Terri

Hopefully, you will get a lot of information at your seminar. In the meantime, you can learn alot right on this website. My doctor requires 10 days of liquid diet prior to the surgery. But, as Terri says, each doctor is different as to their requirements. Good luck. Cheryl

Hi Tammy... my surgeon requires a low carb diet a week before surgery to shrink the liver for easier access, but everyone is different. Good luck. Beth

i had to be on a liquid diet the day before and i had the best surgeon in the universe good luck to you its all worth it whatever it is....... 1 piece of advice i can give from my own personal experience is that try not to tell anyone what your doing if you can avoid it there are a lot of negative people out there against weight loss surgery and they will try to bring you down.... whenever you have a question just come on to this site or call your doctor or if you just want to vent.... this site has been my salvation pre and post op....... best of luck and god bless Stacy 232/140.5/140
