Medicaid & NYC Surgeons

Hello my Fellow AMOS Friends, I have been researching WLS for the past 2 and a half years now. And I am READY to meet with a surgeon. Being that my insurance carrier is Medicaid and not all surgeons accept that, I was wondering if anyone knew of a Surgeon that does? Hello T dr kini at mt sinai Dr. sapala at CORI and Harlem hospital also this is to name a few. many others work with medicaid also, just go under insurers and look up medicaid and they do also most doctors take hip or aetna or many other managed care choices just find a doctor or two or three and call to ask what insurance is accepted that only takes a minute. I had Dr. Howard Beaton He is at NYU downtown hospital and Mt Sinai. He does take Medicaid He was agreat the process with him took less then a month. I am now 1 year post op. good luck Nicole -188

Hi TT I have Medcaid and I just had surgery. My doctor is Dr Sapala from the Cori Center. He is an excellent doctor and trust me they will work with you in order to get approved. Also Dr Goodman in Beth Isreal Hospital take Medcaid as well. They reason I chose Dr Sapala is because I wanted the micropouch. So good luck with you search.

This is your lucky day! I had open RNY on 12/15/04 at Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx. I had stright Medicaid at the time and it covered EVERYTHING! Email me and I'll give you the number for my surgeon's secretary. She is amazing! She'll help you through the whole process and introduce you to Dr. Delany. Good luck. Pete
