Long ovedue update
Hello dear NY AMOS family. I can't believe how fast time has flown by.
I'm sorry I haven't written in some time. I get Internet access at work maybe once a week and have been using it to catch up on reading what others have been writing.
Well it's been 8 months since surgery (I had to stop and count it on my fingers twice ) and still can"t believe it.
My surgery went well and so has my new life. I'm still learning every day what I can and can't do as far as eating and adjusting to my new way of life, but have no real complaints.
My husband, who had not been in favor of this surgery but has supported me inspite of this, has continued to be my support and cheers me on. He is a wonderful man and I am truly lucky to have been blessed with him.
To date I have lost 93-94 lbs and am about 16-17 pounds away from my personal goal. My weight loss seems to have stopped for the past two months and fluctuates a pound or two. If my body has decided to stay where it is I will not complain (too much)! I am now in a very comfortable size 14 or comfortable size 12. ( I am not one for tight clothes so I tend to enjoy the loose style). At my age, this model is built for comfort and not sex appeal!!!
All told, I feel very blessed to have arrived at this stage in my life and am finally at peace with my self and my body.
I would be dishonest if I did not say that each day is a struggle with the old food demons. Good sense and good food choices usually win out.
If I do make a poor food choice I try not to beat myself up and I go back to making a much better choice for my next feeding.
I have learned that I do better if I eat 6-7 small feedings each day. This tends to keep my blood sugar level from dipping too much.
I still have problems eating meat plain that but have foud that if I put it in a thick soup or stew, or have it in a salad it helps greatly and I can tolerate it.
I often eat out with my husband and do not have a problem doing so. I just bring home left overs and enjoy them for two more days as lunch at work!!!!!
Drinking has not been a problem and I often take in more than the required amount. The only thing I can drink is Diet caffine-free ice tea, though but that's ok because I love it.
Protein drinks and all protein bars do not taste good to me with the exception of the power cruch bars. These are a real treat for me and help me feel that I have had a dessert at the end of the day.
I do not exercise as much as I would like to but do get in some walking daily and have begun swimming at the local rec center. Once the weather warms up tho- I'll be getting much more exercise in.
Well that's it for now. Sorry it has taken so long to update. Like I said I spend most of my time lurking...by the time I finish reading everything I have forgotten to update.
Take care and thanks for all of the support and information that you share.
Love,
Carol
