Still no weight loss

I am soooooooo frustrated. I still have not had any weight loss in over a week. I am 2 weeks out as of tomorrow. I initially lost 8 pounds as noted at the doc's a week ago and NOTHING since. I don't get it. How can you not lose weight when you eat SF jello and SF popsicle and don't get in over 50-100 calories a day (sometimes not even that)? I should have had someone tape the surgery to make sure it happened. I'm not hungry or thirsty. I do try to get my fluids in - Hate water but am drinking crystal light. I'm taking my vitamins as prescribed. I have gone to the mall to walk and even started doing my Gazelle - 5 min at a time though. I just don't understand and I find myself getting more and more depressed about it. Terri

Hi Terri, I know everyone is different. I am pre-op, so I'm not sure how much of my advice is useful, but I do know that when one is losing weight if you don't consume enough calories you won't lose weight either. Your body goes into starvation mode and will hold onto everything for a time. I know my doctor's office says that post op they want us to have up to 600-800 calories a day. I think this is really important. Are you getting in some protein drinks? Sometimes just upping your protein will kick start your weightloss. Good luck. Debra

Deb, The first 2 weeks we are only allowed broth (yuck, leaves a cardboard taste in my mouth), SF popsicles, SF jello, water, crystal light. Then the next 2 weeks (starts tomorrow) we are allowed creamed soups without lumps or pieces, smooth sugar-free yogurt, tomato juice or V-8 juice, no sugar added carnation instant breakfast, juice without added sugar, thinned sugar-free pudding. No protein drinks are mentioned or have been recommended. I see the dietician again on March 2. Terri

Hi Terri ~~ Debra is correct about your body goes into a starvation mode and you do not lose weight when you do not consume enough calories. I am sure you will see a loss as soon as you start tomorrow with eating more foods. When you make your sf pudding, trying making it with Hood Carb Countdown Milk, it does have more protein. PLEASE be careful with juice, even the no added sugar ones, have lots of sugars. Terri, just one more thing---Go and Hide that Scale of Yours!! It's going to drive you crazy! Your doing a great job with your new tool. Your drs food plan is just very limited the first 2 week, so your new pouch has time to heal properly. Good Luck and keep us posted!!

Alice, Thanks for the reply. What do you mean MAKE sf pudding? how does one do that? I can't cook. Isn't there sf pudding in the store in a cute little container i can buy? i see that juices have a lot of sugar, so am trying to be careful. will investigate to see the best protein and - sugar sources. Thanks for the kind words! Christine!! Thanks for the phone call! It meant alot. Will keep you posted!! Terri Stephanie -- You'll find out your answer before you know it and we can do the happy dance. we can meet at Arnot mall and get together to celebrate! Terri
