Well, I am 10 days out today. No weight loss in past few days. Can hardly ge****er down. I HATE water. I haven't been able to get more than 100-200 calories per day down and still no loss. Still on clear liquids til Friday then can advance to next stage of liquids. I've been so disappointed that the weight isn't melting off. It seems with the very few calories taken in, the fat would be disappearing in my sleep. I'm not sure how to get more water down. I have it sitting beside me and I look at it and take a few sips here and there, but it is aweful!
My mouth feels gross and tongue feels rough. Not sure why that is either. Been feeling a bit more tired than when I first came home. I'd like to get out, but the weather is horrible. It is soo cold out.
I guess this to shall pass...

Terri,
Be VERY careful of dehydration! Add a little flavoring to water...might help it down...crystal ligh****er with lemon, flavored bottled water (non carbonated) from the store...anything to get the water down!
I am one of the very slow losers myself...but we gotta keep going!
Can you do the protein shakes yet? That would help.

Roxanne
Does Crystal light count the same as water? I could handle drinking that. Not allowed protein drinks yet. Only a little apple juice, popsicles, water, jello, and broth. I hate broth too. Oh, they want me to drink 8 oz of milk too for the protein. Blah Blah
Friday is when I can start the fuller liquids. Almost can't wait to taste a yogurt (and I'm not a fan of that either). lol.
Thanks for the responses.

hi terri
i had a terrible time with all fluids for a while but you MUST SIP SIP SIP. dehydration is a danger and you want to stay healthy.
crystal light does count as water so enjoy!!
please don't be discouraged at the weight loss, it will come off. you have had major surgery and your body may need to adjust. stay positive and remember to DRINK UP!!

Terri,
Yes, crystal light counts as water....hope that helps!
Funny how different docs suggest different things I was on sugarfree carnation instant breakfast drink, as well as mashed potatoes, yogurt, broth, blenderized soups, cottage cheese, right after my surgery. I look forward to a regular diet soon!

Hi there. I am 13 days post op. I felt the same way you do. I hardly drink and only drink when I eat, which was all the time. So it was hard and still is difficult to adjust. But just remember that your stomach is swollen now and it's hard to take in just about anything. Just try to keep sipping. Gatorade diluted with water is okay too, and that will help with the dehydration. I felt weak because i didn't drink enough. Also, you are still pumped up with all that IV fluid and the gas they put in you during the surgery. So don't fret about the weight loss. The first month is just about healing. Try to focus on that. The weight loss will come. Good Luck and God Bless...
