DENIED!

I just received a letter from my insurance company. They denied my surgery! They stated since I haven't participated in a supervised six month weight loss program therefore I am denied. Now I feel like everything I've worked in the last two months is lost. I know my doctor's office will appeal the decision but I still feel this way. Barb

I have united healthcare too. I did not have 6 months of medically supervised weight loss. I did, however have 6 months of weigh****cher records and they told me that it was acceptable to them. If you dont have that, then, if you have been working on having the surgery for 2 months, then you have only 4 months left as long as your doctors have been weighing you. In some cases, you have to wait that long to get a date anyway, so keep your chin up, continue getting weighed every month and the time will go fast. Ill keep you in my prayers. Pam

I was denied 3 times and on 8/23/04 I had WLS. Get all the paper work you have together and go to your pcp see if he can help you. Just think back over the past two years and write down all the diets you have tryed. I bet you have done a 6 month diet that your pcp has know about. See what you can come up with. Barbara, Hun I know how you feel, though I was not denied my Dr knew what was needed before submitting the paperwork. These damn Ins companies are trying to get people to drop out when they find out they have to wait 6 months, well don't give up hun!!! I am 4 month into mine next week and 2 to go, it really does move quick and if your appeal works then that is awesome but at least get yourself back to your PCP to start this program so this way what ever comes first will work....... I hope all goes well for you hun.....I really know it is upsetting and this whole journey is like that....... ups and down......happy times and bad....
