Support/ Information groups in NYC

Hi everybody I'm going to have my surgery on March 28th and i have never been to a support group. I would really like to go to one b4 i have this surgery done. I just want to be around people who are going through the same thing and around those that have already been down the path i'm about to take. I'm from the bronx so if anyone knows of a group in NYC that i can attend please get back top me.

I believe that the support groups at Lenox Hill Hospital are open to the public. They meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month. The Drs run it. The site address is: nomoreobesity.com. You can get more info on the meetings there.

Hi Crystal: Although I had my Surgery at North Shore in Mahasset I attend the support group at NY Hospital E68th St. and York which is held on the FRIST WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH IN THE BOARD ROOM. A word of advise, bring picture ID with you. NY Hospital does ask for it. I love to see their face because mine is of me at 105lbs heavier Good luck and happy hunting, Cathy

Hi Crystal, Where are you having your surgery done? There are support groups that meet at Montefiore Hospital on a biweekly basis. They are run by a nutritionist and a psychologist. There a pre-surgical meetings as well as post-op, and veteran's meetings. The nutritionist's name is Aisling Mcginty and her tel# (718) 920-6471. She'll be glad to help you.
