Me too, This is what I'm getting together from what I have read-- Chapstick for your parched lips. I'm bringing moisturizer to feel refreshed and I have this spray mist--aromatherapy..called Energy that wakes me up and makes me feel good. Disposable handwipes/face wipes. Depending on how difficult personal hygiene is for you-- I just ordered a peri wash bottle. Has a nozzle to squir****er where ya can't reach. I guess if its hard to do now.. when your belly is sore.. it will be worse.( I found one online..email me.. I'll find the link, if you cant find one in a drugstore) Your own pillow. Last time I was in the hospital I brought my own fan. It was so stuffy in my room. A little battery op one they will allow. Phone numbers and maybe alittle notebook incase you feel like writing your thoughts. Also.. maybe some copies of posts from here for inspiration if you feel like crap. I don't pack light. Good Luck. I'm coming up behind you.

Hi Jackie Congratulations on your surgery. May it be uneventful and your recovery speedy. According to Barbara Thompson in her book, she says you should take the following: PILLOW: just so you have something familiar and to hold against your tummy when you have to cough and for the ride home. LIP BALM: lips may be very dry after surgery FAN: in case you are troubled by the hospital heat BODY LOTION: soothing for dry skin SLIPPERS: "slip on" as you won't feel like bending to put you heel in CAMERA: so you can have pictures with doctors, flowers and yourself READING MATERIAL: maybe a magazine or two FAMILY PHOTOS: they can be comforting to look at CLOCK: with lighted dial so you can see time in middle of night TALCUM POWDER: a dry bed is more comfortable if free of perspiration COMFORTABLE CLOTHES TO WEAR HOME She also suggests a nightgown and toiletries. I always find that because of the IV's, catheters and bandages, it is easier to wear hospital gowns. Usually hospitals give you toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. You may want to take hairbrush, makeup and whatever it takes to make you feel comfortable. I hope this helps. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Brenda

Lot's of good ideas here. Something I'm bringing--depending on how you feel about music, might be a good timepasser for some of you--my MP3 player. Has more music than I could ever listen to on it (I've got a 30GB Nomad Jukebox Zen--currently has almost 8000 songs on it). That should keep me for a few days. If you have a MP3 player at home you might want to think about loading it up with your favorite music and bringing it.

The MP3 player is a great suggestion. I brought mine to the hospital and it was really helpful with my roommate played her tv all night. I found it very relaxing and it helped lull me to sleep.

Hi Jackie~~ A phone card is good to bring--so you can make phone calls! Do Not bring too much! You can wear the same loose fitting clothes to and from the hospital. Easy slip on slippers are a must, you won't be bending so easily the first few days. Also, a robe that opens in the front, this way you can put it over your shoulders as your doing laps around the hospital. When you go for your Pre-Admission testing, ask them what will your hospital supply you with as a patient!! One more thing.......take a Before Picture........you will be glad you did!!! Start Packing--Your going to be a loser soon! Alice

Just e-mail them and they will let you know what to do. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/photos-menu.phtml Hospital do have phones in the rooms, but you need a phone card to make outgoing calls.
