Hi Fellow NY'ers!!! He...
Hi Fellow NY'ers!!!
Here's my dilemma if you want to call it that... I feel like I am outta control with my eating choices since I don't seem to "dump" on anything I've eaten... Just a listing of the stuff I've ate lately:
Long John Silvers Fish / chicken plank
Wendy's Chili
McDonalds Chicken Selects (2)
Chinese food (I did after eating sesame chicken)
Chicken Whopper (no bread)
I'm a fast-food aholic because of my lifestyle and the little time I seem to have with a full time class and work schedule...
I seem to be craving a lot of breaded stuff and I don't think that is a good choice, is it?????? I'm about 7 weeks out from surgery now and I feel like I am losing my battle already... I just seem to have no control or willpower to do this right... What is wrong with me????
So many of you look so fantastic and I keep thinking I am going to be fat forever and this surgery won't help me either... I have lost 40 lbs in the 6 weeks but thats such a drop in the bucket... I still need to lose about 200 friggen pounds... I'm so down in the dumps right now that I just don't know what to do with myself... I just wanna cry because I know what I've been doing is bad... But I can't seem to get my @ss in gear and eat right, healthy things... Life is so busy right now and I always resort to meals thru the window because of convenience etc....
I'm just soooo down right now... I can't even exercise because I have no energy and my arthritic hip/back on the left side is in horrible shape... I am having spasms in the area all day long and when I have to sit for a long period of time I feel like I wanna die... This was going on before surgery but now I can't take the Ibuprofen that used to help me!!
Ok I should quit my little pity party for myself now but I feel like I need someone to help me right now... Do any of you have some words of wisdom for me? Eating suggestions? Assurances that this "tool" will work? I am already taking a high dose of anti-depressants but I still have the blues right now... I'm just in a rut!!
Chelle
Put a cooler in your car and stock it. Buy those ice packs and rotate them every day. You could leave whatever you like in your car as you would your home fridge.
CArry cans of tuna in the car AND A CAN OPENER... they dont spoil, maybe find those foil packets of light mayo or bring a lemon.
protein bars, MAKE A THERMOS OF HOT SOUP IN THE AM. I've read people add protein powder to the soup to make sure they get enough protein.
SURELY YOU HAVE TIME TO BOIL WATER!
Boil some eggs too. stick those in the CAR fridge.
How about a measured amount of peanut butter and SF jelly in tupperware and a rice cake.
If ya gotta stop at fast food joints .. which sounds like it's setting you up for failure.. atleast choose
McDonalds--- Cobb's salad with grilled chicken and cobb's dressing.. or keep lo cal dressing in the car. AND WATER FOR 1/2 HOUR LATER. NOT SOONER, SAME FOR BELOW
Subway --Turkey/chicken sandwich SANS bread/roll--THROW IT OUT.. FEED SOME DUCKS OR SOMETHING.
Arbys--just the roast beef.. no bread, no sauce
orrr those new salad wraps they have are very very good. The chicken bacon one is yummy and big.
QUIZNOS has wraps too.

By trying to help you.. I have just helped myself.
My mantra is sugar is the enemy. If you ever had to break up with someone or end a relationship because it was unhealthy or making you unhappy its the same thing....talk to your foods . I said my farewell to Tiramisu..said I had great times.. but I had to move on in my life. I said it outloud to other things too.. pecan pie, custard sheet cake. "So long ol pal". Greasy fattening fast foods have been my companions (not friends) for a long time too. But it's time to say good bye..I say to them " maybe I'll see you for a short visit down the road, but for now..I must move on." I'll be ok. Hope you'll be ok too. My surgery is coming up..and I'm really trying to get my head in the right place. Your asking for help is the best thing you can do. Maybe you'll be there for me when I'm struggling too. Best to you. Take care of yourSelf.
Hello Patricia~~
Great Advice!!! I think your head is in the right place and you have done your homework! You are mentally prepared, which makes a successful post-op!
And when you hit a bump in your second journey.....we will be here for you!
Please do not forget to take a Before Pic.....it really is important!!!
Try to keep your chin up, don't get discouraged. You've lost already, which is good! You're not a failure. You're still only 7 weeks out, and we all drop weight at our own timing in our own ways.
I think you should get a little more structure through your day to where you can fit sitting down at home before you leave, and eating a decent healthy and filling meal before you run out the door, even if it's only for 5-10 minutes. I think it's really important now that you learn how to incorporate this surgery, which is a new way of life, into your old life and vice versa. I'd suggest keeping things like Nutra Grain bars in your car, , Protein Bars, those little boxes of cereal (cos they are good dry too!), dried fruits, pretzels, etc. are just an idea of little things that maybe can hold you over. Those Campbell's soup on the go cups are good too! Or each night, make a sandwich or 2 (or make as many as you want for the week) and a bottle of crystal light (or whatever you like to drink) and throw it in the fridge. That way you can grab them both and have it on the way to work, school, wherever. I do that a lot, and it's super convenient for me! Good luck!
Chelle, I agree with the posts above honey. Really, don't be so hard on yourself. Pick yourself up brush yourself off and try to get back on track again. First of all since you say you are so busy you have no time to really eat healthy ...right? So whatcha gotta do is pack yourself some healthy food and take it with you, this is what I do for work because I don't want to NOT eat heathy and the stuff in the cafe here at work is NOT always the healthiest ( if ya know what I mean)
Chelle, It is going to take time to get used to getting into the routine of being a healthy eater but you have a wonderful tool and you need to work that tool! Please Chelle we are all here for you and we will always support you in any way we can, so go on out there and do your best that's all you can do! You can do this \
Love ya!
