HI My Surgery is on Feb. 14th, and if you could help. I would like a list of things to stock up on for after i come home. I like to be prepared, and i know i wont feel like going to the store after i come home form the hospital. So any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks D. Thompson

Hiya Dolores! You might ask your dietician/nutritionist for a list of suitable items for you post op. Here is what I bought for when I got home after my bypass: S/F Jello Crystal Light F/F Broth S/F Koolaid S/F Ice Pops (these quickly become your favorite 'food') Protein Supplements/Shakes Decaf. Tea/Coffee Skim Milk Egg Drop Soup (freeze it in small portions, & defrost them as needed) Miso Soup Diet Snapple JUICES (ie: Snapple Apple, Cran. Raspberry, Orange Carrot, etc.) Water Lemon Juice (if you cannot tolerate plain water, add a little lemon juice) *I encourage you to buy different flavors of all of the things you buy since your tastes may change alot! Not only do you dislike some things you previously loved, you also find that somedays you abhor certain tastes (ie: can't stand citrus, chocolate flavor, etc.)! I still go through 'stages' with foods I like and then suddenly can't eat the next day and I am almost 7 months out! Hope this helps! Good Luck! Yvonne

Every doctor is a little different but I think most send their patients home on clear liquids at first so I would have sugar free jello and popsicles on hand as well as crystal lite. Some doctors allow full liquids so you can also have sugar free puddings, some soups, ect.... Check with his office to see what he requires and go from there. Good luck Kathi
