Has anyone taken any protein supplements? I am wondering because I know that I need to get in more protein because my hair is falling out a lot and I just can't take it anymore it's everywhere. I have a lot so it doesn't look bad but I'm afriad that if it continues at the rate it is it will be very thin and eventually look horrible. So I noticed that there are protein supplements out there and I was just wondering why they don't suggest people take them. My surgeons office has recommened the protein bars or the drinks which I can't stand and I'm not that great on meats yet being only 4months post-op. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance. Elizabeth Barone 9/8/04 251lbs-172lbs 79lbs gone forever!!!!!!

I read on here that a shampoo from Super Cuts that has biotin in it is good. Also that the hair loss levels out at about 10 months. Good luck.

I can really understand your dismay with your hair falling out. Mine was falling out rapidly and luckily, like you, I had thick hair so it was not very noticable except to my haircutter. I thought that it would never stop but it did after about 3 months. From everything I read on the ObesityHelp web site and elsewhere, I came to believe that it's just a cycle some people go through and that it isn't helped by consuming more protein (although it can't hurt to try) or anything else- you just have to let it run it's course. I was so worried that it wouldn't stop but it did. Hope this info was helpful. My husband and I both use Designer Whey chocolate protein powder mixed in a blender with skim milk and a banana and I find it very palatable. Sue S.
