how will we get to the hospital lol we only live 10 mins away should i start to panic also
Hi Emma,
Don't worry, I would just leave earlier in case it takes you longer to get there. If the doctors are delayed so what, you will already be there waiting, safe and warm. Keep your head up and blessings for you on that day for safe travel, an uneventful surgery, and a speedy recovery!!

So far there is no clear determination for how bad the weather will be this weekend. In any case, the snow is believed to be starting late Saturday into Sunday. If all continues to go in that direction, by Monday it should be nothing more than a small inconvenience. Don't panic yet. Good luck and God bless!
Emma,
The bad weather is a good omen. I am just about 2 years post-op, and I don't know if you remember the blizzard on Pesident's Day in '03. I was crying. I live in Queens and was having surgery at Lenox Hill in Manhattan. The snow started to fall and I started to panic. Even worse, I could not get through to the doctor's office or the hospital. I finally got a call from my Dr's office manager telling me he was stuck in the Dominican Republic because the airports were closed. OMG I was a mess. She offerred me the option to let his partner do the surgery instead. I jumped at the chance, and figured if she was good enough for Al Roker she was good enough for me. I also had taken leave from work, and needed it done then. All I asked was that I speak to her before we went into the OR. I was a wreck, as this was the day before. We couldn't even get our car off the block. Finally, our neighbor with an SUV who lived around the corner on a more traveled street, offerred to take us to the subway in Flushing. We decided to go into Manhattan and stay in a hotel near enough to walk to the hospital the next AM. We packed backpacks and went in like bums. Our son was already with my parents. We stayed in a hotel a block from the train and the next AM took it two stops to the hospital. My husband stayed in an extra night because we were so tired from the stress and dragging around in the snow. Everything went great, and I have absolutely no regrets. I follow up with both surgeons!!! If I was able to get myself from Queens to Manhattan in a blizzard, you will be just fine. Best of luck!!!!
