Awaiting approval

One year ago I was denied by insurance to have surgery. Blue Cross had approved it, but Blue Shield denied it.. go figure. They denied appeal. I have new insurance now.. Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO - Excellus.. I recieved a letter yesterday stating they approved the hospital stay, but haven't had approval yet for all. Now I am nervous as this happened to me last time and I was denied. Keep fingers crossed!

I called the insurance office today and they say I am definately approved. Dr. Cole's office hasn't recieved the paperwork yet, but I have a tentative date of Feb 11th. Has anyone had this happen with the insurance paperwork??

Terri~~ CONGRATULATIONS on your approval! Glad to see that you made that phone call and heard the good news. Yes, insurance companies work at a slow pace. Your dr gave you a surgery date because he knows that the paperwork will reach him in time. But I would call his office in a week, just to make sure the paperwork has arrived! Good Luck

Alice, Thanks for the support. I called the insurance office three times because I was so excited I recieved approval. Especially having been denied even after appeal through a different insurance last year. Everything is approved and surgery is Feb 11th with pre-admission and meetings on Feb 7th. I am soooo psyched and can't wait!! Several family members are not thrilled, but they will be when I am healthy again with less aches and pains! Take Care and will keep you posted. Terri
