Finally made the call
Hi John
Congratulations on your decision. I am not a patient of Dr. Cole, but I am a patient of his partner, Dr. McKane. I did see Dr. Cole for an endoscopy and he is very nice. Very knowledgeable as is Dr. McKane. Both of these doctors work very closely.
The only one who matters as far as support is your spouse. My husband was not too sure about this procedure, but after I have talked with him and he has been going to the doctor's with me, he is giving me full support. I think the family's main concern is that they are afraid of losing you, not stopping to think that if you remain obese, you are slowly killing yourself and will die sooner. Take your wife with you to see Dr. Cole.
Also, take a list of questions with you as Alice listed. The doctors are both great about answering your questions. Dr. McKane answered all of my questions without my asking anything. Use this messageboard just to read or to post questions.
Good Luck in your journey!!!
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers
Brenda
WELL JOHN, I HAVE NOT YET HAD THE SURGERY EITHER, AND AM IN THE BEGINNING STAGES OF THE PROCESS, BUT HAVE COME TO ONE CONCLUSION..THIS IS THE MOST PERSONAL DECISION THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO MAKE IN YOUR LIFE. YOU JUST HAVE TO WEIGH THE PROS AND CONS WHEN IT COMES TO THE SURGERY AND BRING THE PROS OF THE SURGERY VERSES THE CONS OF OBESITY TO YOUR FAMILY. IF U CAN SOMEHOW GET THEM TO SEE THAT GETTING THIS SURGERY WILL BENEFIT YOUR LIFE AND HEALTH, AND STAYING OBESE WILL JUST SHORTEN YOUR LIFESPAN, THEY SHOULD FIND COMFORT IN THIS. I HOPE ALL GOES WELL WITH U AN DYOUR FAMILY...........GOD BLESS YOU,
EBONY
