Why does it seem like everyone is is trying to......
TALK ME OUT OF THE ONE THING I KNOW IS THE BEST THING FOR ME!!!!?
I'm getting sick and tired of the people around me asking if I'm sure I want to do this because they know someone who has had the surgery and it didn't work for them or they just don't look good because of this or that! I have heard just about every reason NOT to have this surgery but not once have I heard "great I'm happy for you" or "good luck" with the exception of my family. I guess they don't truly understand the pain and embrassment I go through eveyday of MY LIFE! I know I want this and no one is going to stop me! It's frustrating to hear this everyday and makes me ! Is it just me or has anyone else gone through this as well?
Thanks for letting me vent!

Congratulations Barb, for making your own decision....people are afraid of the unknown and also need something to gossip about.....
When I started to talk to my close freinds and family I got really mix reactions so I know longer talk about it with anyone except here at the board where I have made many new friends and family.....and I'm ok with that.....
Don't let any one decide for you, if you know this is for you than that is it....
I had two friends have surgery and I hate to say this to you but both died and that is not stoping me, I feel they didn't do thier reseach and I have done mine and everyday is a new learning experience everyday, with insurance, doctors and bs if you know what I mean....
So I am very happy for you Barb...and I am wishing you the best through out your journey to a healthier and happier lifestyle.....enjoy....

Barb, I went through this too, only they did worse: They scared the living daylights out of my son, who was beside himself that I was going to get the surgery after the nonsense they put in his head. It turned out that the lady was just jealous because she was turned down for it. He kept saying I was going to die if I had the surgery, and I told him, "No, baby, I am going to die if I do NOT have the surgery."
This was the best decision I ever made. When people tell me they know others who had a hard time, I explain to them that many of us are getting the surgery because we have OTHER health issues, which are directly related to why we must have this surgery. Sometimes those other issues can be problematic. The surgery itself was not the problem, but the co-morbidities were.
Please relax, have a nice cup of tea and get ready for the ride of your life!
