My doctor just advanced me to pureed. Was able to eat two ounces first sitting. Still felt like I could eat more. Is this normal? I'm not sure whether or not I feel hungry. Is this normal? Really nervous. Should i cut back?

Hi Stacey, first let me congratulate you on becoming a Loser. I too am on pureed foods and have been for 2 weeks, but I don't actually blend to puree, I puree things in my mouth before I swallow. Don't try that unless your surgeon says too, not every surgeon is the same. But, to answer your question, my Dr always said to eat until I START to feel full. Your body takes about 20 minutes to start feeling full so the slower that you eat the less that it will take to make you full. You should be eating 1 oz every 10 minutes or so, but every body acts differently to the intake of food. I know that if I eat just an egg I am hungry sooner than if I add 1/2 oz of cheese to it, so maybe you should speak to your nutritionist to find out if you can add or intake more in a sitting. Good luck Stacey, and keep us posted on your WL. Jalonda

Hi Stacey, I have had days like that too where I felt like I could eat more that 2 oz. but its vitally important that you follow what the surgeon or nutritionist suggested... I think its normal to feel that way hon... Most of the time I am on the opposite end of the spectrum... I just don't care to eat at all but I guess that is a good thing since my life isn't revolving around food anymore... On average, I can eat 6-8 tsp. (6 usually) for each meal, 3 times a day... Always pick protein first whether that be chicken, tuna, etc would be my best suggestion... I'm doing well with it so far but it is getting a little boring with limited meat choices... Plus the protein seems to fill you better... Good luck to you in your journey... Hope you're doing well!! Chelle In NNY - A fellow Watertown resident 403/370/170

Congratulations Stacey. Your mind has to catch up to the thought of not eating so don't worry, but do follow your doc's instruction and how much to eat, and don't forget to sip your water all day long.... Wishing you luck through out your journey..... If your not sure call your doc's office and ask how much you should be eating....at a sitting.... Christine
