Hello All, I just have a question, how much protein are you to eat Post-Op? is it the same as Pre-op? Just wanting to know, thinking on starting to try the different Soy Protein options that are out there. I really like to idea of the Soy Protein, it is so good for us. I had one from Trader Joe's a while ago but gave it to my cuz after her surgery because it has a self life and never got to use it. Please if anyone knows the amount let me know. Thanks as always, Debra

Hello again Deb You do know that every doctor is different with the amount of protein and water intake I am pre-op like you and my surgeon has me on 64 gram. I don't know what it will be after surgery.... Good luck with the journey and you can always call your surgeon and ask what he recommeds cause you will be under his advisement...and stick to the plan.... Christine

Hi! I'm 3 months post-op tomorrow (already!!!), and my doc advised 60 g protein at 2 1/2 liters water/day. It was the same pre-op. My GNC sells a great soy protein, it's called Soy Delite (not all GNCs have it, though) http://www.bodyconcept.com/family/1191/display.html I've tried the pineapple vanilla and the vanilla berry....love 'em! I try to do at least 8 oz. of skim milk w/ 1 scoop (total w/ milk= 23 g protein) each day. Sometimes I'll have another at night while watching TV just to up that protein count. Good luck! Claudia

Soy Delite has over 9 carbs which is a bit high for protein drinks. Nectars (0 carb), Champion (3 carbs) are much better, but there are alot more out there.

I refuse to go crazy worrying about carbs. I can only eat 4-6 oz. of protein shake at a time, and w/ such little quantities, I'm not going to stress it. Also, while Nectars may have no carbs, they are made w/ whey protein, which not everyone can tolerate (I am severely allergic to whey protein, and have anaphalactic reaction to it). I'll take the carbs. Claudia

Thanks, Debra. I *am doing great! Total of 70 lbs. lost in 3 months, and feeling GREAT! It does get boring after a while, so I add a few things to change the taste/texture (ie: a few berries, 1/4 banana, almond extract, etc)......I don't stress about labels, just try to pick "whole foods" whenever possible, and watch sugar, always do protein first, but don't worry about overall carbs. I let my pouch dictate what's good for me now..... Best wishes! Claudia
