Hi Claudette, I don't really know how to answer your question because usually the surgeon you choose will make that decision. I can tell you that my starting weight was 306 (although I did weigh less by my surgery date) and I had Lap RNY. Good luck on your decision, Patti

Hi Claudette, I was 333 pounds and had a lap rny and have lost over 120 pounds so far... It worked best for me - but I would suggest that you do a ton of research and soul searching and make a decision that is best for you. Seek out the "bad" stories as well so that you are prepared for everything. Good luck! Lisa

hey. you have to make your own decision on the type of surgery you choose. I had lapband and I am totally happy with my choice. Just be sure to do lots and lots of research and ask the surgeon lots of questions! Good luck Joanna

As the others have said, do some research. I would start there and at least be familiar as to what each surgery is. Then, I'd try to select a surgeon to consult with that performs several of them., so that when you are discussing things with him, at least you kinda know that he can do the procedure that both of you decide suits you the best, and is not suggesting a particular surgery because that may be the only one he performs. I can tell you that I am happy with my lap rny, but in addition to the rny, my surgeon does the band, and the DS. If you are interested in his info, feel free to e-mail me. Good luck!!!
