has anyone goen thru the gastric bypass with a cold? Cause I've got one and am supposed to have surgery on monday and the doc didn't seem to want to operate while I had one, but I know it's been done before and I feel fine, so I'm still hoping to get it monday. My question is for those that have had it with a cold, did you find that it made a difference in the surgery process afterwards, ie, fever, pneumonia, etc. or did it really not hinder anything. I've got an almost non-existant cough, and a stuffed-up head, and that's it, so I really don't feel its a problem.

Walk, don't run, to your nearest CVS or similar drugstore. Buy AIRBORNE and ZICAM ... Follow direx ... You can take them at the same time ... Your cold should be gone in three days. Good luck and God bless. Also wash your hands frequently and avoid other sources of possible germs -- including little ones (kids) -- if you possibly can.

I had open surgery on Dec 1 and caught an upper respiratory infection while in the hospital. The antibiotics weren't strong enough so it turned to pneumonia and the antibiotics caused a nice case of thrush. The worst part was coughing with the staples in and being a fresh post-op. Just stay on top of it and you should be fine. I am three weeks out and haven't missed a day of exercising. I am down 22 pounds and 14 1/2 inches from all over my body. This is the best thing I ever did for myself. Kathi
