Chinese Food
Andrea -
Safest bet is only to eat what combination of foods your surgeon/nutritionist have approved for how far you are post-op -- if ANYTHING in the food isn't approved, you either need to pick it out, or not eat it.
Especially early post op, it's really important to follow whatever your surgeon has listed as their diet - different surgeons perform the procedure slightly differently, and if you deviate from their diet as specified, then you may have issues, esp if you have a problem
I know that's probably not the answer you wanted to hear....
But I think it's probably the safest.
Also - generally a good idea with Chinese food later on post-op to watch out for the sauces - they are loaded with sugar, and also watch out for the carbs in the fried stuff (like sweet/sour chicken or general tso's) - I'm 9+ months out, and had a little general tso's yesterday, and dumped then crashed At least it stayed down, but maybe it would have been better if it hadn't (lol).
Good luck -

Hi Nick~~
That's great advice for early post ops!
Besides the the general tso's chicken problem, I hope that all is well and your doing good! I like your spirit about the food.........at least it stayed down!!!
Chinese Food is the only type of food, that I have not ventured to eat since my WLS!! Just because of the "dumping and than crashing" due to the sugar and carbs. It happened to me early on, when I ate out and didn't think the food had any sugar. Had to figure out what was happening to me.....I did and I hate feeling that way!! I am very lucky as I do not crave any foods and can tolerate of few carbs now and then.
Enjoy your day~~
Now you make me want to try Chicken Chow Mein---
but I am still
Angel--before you hire a personal trainer, try eating all different foods. Just change your whole eating, of course stick to your drs plan. Then up your water and stay away from any carbs, if you are eating them. This seems to give everyone a jumpstart.....it worth a try!!
