What is pureed?

Okay so what exactly consists of pureed. In my surgeons instructions it says I can have cooked chicken, turkey, ect (no red meat) blenderized. Here is what I did. The other night we had ham steaks. I cut some up into cubes and put it through the food processor so basically it was minced. I then added some mustard to moisturize it. Then tonight I did the same thing with a chicken tender (100% chicken breast) and added some light ranch dressing to it. I still chewed it even though I didn't really have to. Does that count as pureed? God I hope so cuz it tasted damn good and it stayed down w/o a problem, and nothing got stuck. Thanks everyone!!! Janet

Hi Janet That chicken breast with Ranch dressing sounds like tomorrow nites dinner to me, thank you. Sounds like your pureeing to me, and as long as your not having problems. Why no red meats? Just curious my Dr said alot of people can tolerate chili, had that for dinner tonite was very very tasty.. Take Care Kyle

Thanks Kyle. It was relatively small chicken breast about 1 oz or just over. I made sure the ranch dressing was light and it made it moist enough. I am not sure why no red meats, it just says to stay away from red meat/hamburg. I do not like chili anyways so I guess that is a good thing!! LOL Janet

You might also try adding some chicken broth or gravy to it, but that's what it is. I was released on pureed food. I was served roast turkey and beef stew ground up just like you described in the hospital.

Catherine- Thanks. I find myself eating real slow because I do not want to get sick. I make sure I am putting my utensil down between bites, chewing even the pureed stuff to get practice. Dr. Boss and Dr. O'Malley follow the same diet progression so I know what you mean. Someone gave me the idea of taking Ricotta cheese and putting spaghetti sauce on it, tastes like Raviolis. Great job on your weight loss!!!!!! Why don't you go back before the 16th of Dec? I would think you would be back a bit earlier than that. I go back on the 21st of December and will get Diet #3. I lost 11 pounds the first week, don't know what else since. Oh one thing I do like is I take egg beaters, ham, cheese, and salsa, cook it up, and then puree it, looks gross but is very tasty!!! Good luck!!!! Janet
