I'm home!
How true is the saying there is no place like home. My surgery went well Friday, had laproscopic by-pass and gall bladder removal was on table for about 4 hours. I have to be honest and say it is worse than I thought. I had a low grade fever which kept me in the hospital an extra day. I have intense back pain to go along with stomach tenderness. I will have the drain in my stomach until next Wednesday, UGH!!! I have cried several times, and am focusing on the long term. Thank goodness I have kept down broth, jello, diluted apple juice and water. I started my chewable vitamins and calcium when I got home, kept them down as well. Sent my husband to GNC for a new liquid protein they have (was told about it from nurse at Good Sam) tasted like childrens cough syrup but kept it down and found in more palable then powder at this stage.
I know I will feel better each day.
Good luck to all whose surjery is in near future.

Evelyn,
I purchased a product called liquid protein. It is available at GNC or Walgreens. 1 serving is 3 tablespoons, the taste isn't great but it has only 90 calories and 18 grams of protein. I actually took it right from the spoon, followed by a small sip of water. Give it a try, and thanks for the encouragement.
