What Am I Doing
Hi Everyone - I'm having my first App't with Dr. Graber in New Hartford tomorrow. I've done lots of research, especially reading everything you guys have written and learned a lot. I just read a posting that said a new report came out that says 1 in 50 die from the surgery. I'm 5'3", 270 and need this surgery. Any advice?
Hi Linda
1st take a deep breath.... and another...... now go to your appt tomorrow with DR. Garber you are in very good hands and you need to meet him to ease you nerves right now....once you meet him I'm sure he will put you at ease.....
So Linda do you feel better...not yet but tomorrow you will, ask him all the question you want answered and when you leave there tomorrow I want you to come back to the board and tell me how it all went....
It is normal to get nervous and all these emotions cause this is not and easy journey and it is a roller coaster and just remember you have made a good decision to have wls.....
Wishing you the best through out your journey to a healthier and happier lifestyle....

Linda,
That is good advise that Christine gave you.....
I am 5,1" and 280 Lbs, pre-op for the next 5 months due to GHI, Ins Comp and I know how you are feeling, I had my first appt with my Dr. on Long Island, I was so stressed that I canceled it for that day and moved it 1 1/2 months back......it helped to be in the right frame of mind and after I went it only got better with the nerves.... I am sure more are waiting for me as my time comes closer but all in all I am still moving forward.....
I wish you the best and please post back to the board after your appt as Christine said.
Take care,
Debra Peace
Hi Linda,
I had my surgery with Dr. Graniero, and I am so happy that I did this!!! I never focused on the fact that I might die FROM the surgery, because I knew that I WOULD die without it!! Trust in your surgeon, in yourself and above all in your Higher Power, and you will be just fine!!
Good Luck and keep us informed!!
