HEY ALL! I had my 1st 2WK post-op follow-up exam yesterday. I weigh 421 pds. That's 37lbs. lost. WOW! It wasn't easy. At my exam, the nurse also noticed that at the bottom of my incision was red and puffy. She concluded that there was an infection so she gave me anti-biotics for that. I was also dehydrated so I must up my water, starting walking a block a day, taking iron and calcium as well. lOTS OF UPPER BACK PAINS AND PAINS FROM MY INCISION BUT WE KNOW WHY NOW. TALK ABOUT BREAKING BAD HABITS LEFT AND RIGHT. DRINKING WATER AS A LIFE LINE ALL DAY COUNTING UP TO 10 BET. SIPS COUNTING UP TO 25 BET. SPOONS. USING BABY UTENSILS AND EATING OUT OF BABY FOOD JARS SO NOT 2 OVER EAT AND GET SICK. ETC., ETC., ETC., ETC. RUDE AWAKENING INDEED. I DON'T REGRET IT. JUST WISH I HAD LEARNED THESE THINGS AS A CHILD GROWING UP SO I DIDN'T HAVE TO START AT GROUND ZERO AT AGE 34, IS ALL! Anyone who says that WLS is a quick fix IT IS A MAJOR DECISION. What a way to go! It is indeed helpful for those who have gotten to a point in their weight where they can no longer exercise onn their own or lose weight the conventional way on their own. THIS IS AN EXTREME TOOL ONLY! I JUST NEEDED TO VENT FAMILY. ALL THE BEST TO U ALL. MARTINE

Maritne, Congradulations on your coming over to the other side. You have done well. Everyday will be a learning experience on your new life. It all boils down to behavior modification. I am still at almost one year facing lots of issues. I am down -110pds and loving my new life. Just take it easy. Take in your liquids no matter how long it takes you. I think the liquids are more important than the food right now. Did you watch Oprah on Monday. That poor woman was a prisoner in her own home at 550 lbs. She finallly had gastric bypass and has lost over 300 lbs. You will be fine we are all behind you. We are either going through it soon ( WLS) thinking of it, or Post-op like me. You can vent to us, we will listen. Just be a good patient everyday will get better girl Lorraine
