Crohns

My hubby has Crohns due to this he has an illeostomy.He is 204lbs and is 5'5".The extra weight is a concern.He is interested in RNY. Does anyone know if this is possiable w/ his current health conditions (illeostomy)?

I doubt they would consider him a candidate because of absorption problems. An ileostomy causes loss of fluids in general and a big issue after WLS is staying hydrated. Also absorption of nutrients would be affected. I also have Crohn's disease, but no ileostomy. I have had small bowel resection, but my surgeon recommends lap band because of it's reversibility. You never know unless you ask. He should try and go to an informational session because he could approach someone after on a 1:1 basis and ask his questions....Hope this helps.................Jen
