Mello Pouch?

Something weird happened to me this week. I saw my Nutritionist last Friday and I had asked about eating pretzels. She said I could use that as a form of carbs and perhaps eat it with 1 teaspoon of peanut butter as a lunch. Well, prior to this appointment my stomach would constantly gurgle everytime I ate or drank, just like hunger pains. Ever since I had some pretzels with the lf/peanut butter my stomach no longer speaks to me in such an aggressive way. Do you think I could have stretched my pouch out with the pretzels? Or--is it possible that maybe all the gurgling was caused by post op swelling? I am totally baffled by this. I feel fine, it is just that everything goes down easier, even my water no longer hurts. Any ideas on this one? The only time I feel any pressure pain is first thing in the morning when I have to swallow my iron pill (chromagen) which is like swallowing a horse capsule. It feels like it gets stuck for a few seconds. Marianne

Nah, I don't think you could stretch your pouch out without knowing it at this point. I can still hear gurling and I'm farther out than you. If your pouch is like mine, it's just playing possum. Mine will behave very well for days or weeks then whammo! When I least expect it will act up. I haven't vomitted, but sometimes I wish I could. Chicken is especially tricky for me. Sometimes it goes down well, sometimes not. Pouchie sure has taught me humility.

Hi Marianne~ Don't worry, your doing fine. Kathy has said it all! My stomach makes lots of noise! I just find it helps me--let's me know when I have eaten enough. Chicken is STILL a problem--sometimes it sits well and sometimes not!! Why don't you check and see if you can take your iron in a smaller pill. Also do you have to take it "first" thing in the morning? Maybe after you have eaten something would be better--check with your dr.
