hi kathy, i didn't mention in my original post that i "have" to have it out. i have very bad stones which showed up on my sonogram. so i was hoping that i won't have to have an open RNY opposed to a lap RNY... apparently, the gall bladder removal is also done lap so i should be in good shape! thanks for the input! shea

Mine was removed 16 months after my lap rny. My WLS surgeon did it. He does not like to remove it at the time of the wls unless it is troublesome. I was on actigall for 6 months. The gall bladder surgery is a piece of cake and would not make your recovery any more difficult. You might just end up with a few more lap scars, since the gall bladder is toward the right rather than the left side.
