gall bladder removed with rny?

hi guys, i was wondering if anyone had to have their gall bladder out while going through rny? i was expecting to have my surgery done laproscopically but am wondering if this can still be done if they remove my gall bladder? thanks for any info! shea

They removed my gallbladder when they did my lap gastric bypass. Good luck, Laurie

My gb was removed during RNY. It was totally diseased. Charl

thanks charl, i know it is not too uncommon to have it removed during this surgery, but i was hoping i would still be able to have it done lap so my recovery would be quicker. ( i have a soon to be 2 yr old!) thanks again, shea

Quicker recovery? Ha! I had an open RNY and was back to work in less than two weeks! How much quicker do you need than that? [smiles] I also had my gall bladder out at the time of my RNY. Good luck.

hi evelyn, yeah, i am going to call his office tomorrow. funny thing is... it was ok to me that i am having the rny surgery, but when i heard they want to take out my gallbladder it freaked me out!it sounds like from the other members here that have had this done that i will still be able to have it done lap! i have a soon to be 2 year old son that would not take it to easily if mommy was in bed any longer than he could take! congrats on your success, you look wonderful!!!! shea

Mine wasn't taken out. Not every doc automatically removes it if it isn't diseased.
