I am at a loss here and was told yesterday ( after almost 2 years of researching etc), that my insurance GHI cbp, does not cover adjustable gastric banding, Lapband. Does anyone have the same insurance and were either denied/approved to have this procedure? I am just too upset and looking for any input from someone who may of already been the same thing as I am. Hope everyone has a great weekend ! Laryssa

Hi Laryssa One of my co-workers had the lap-band and GHI cbp covered it it just doesn't cover his re-fill which cost about $125.00 a fill and you might get a fill 3 or 4 times a year. Just remember that the policy is based on your company coverage and you should call GHI again and inquire about it. I hope this helps. Wishing you well. Christine

Hi Christine, Thank you so much for the information, I am thinking it will be so very useful, when I make some more calls on Monday. Do you think that your friend would mind either e-mailing me about his approval etc, or does he have a profile on here? All your help is so greatly appreciated. I hope that you are doing very well and getting so close with each day! Laryssa

Hello Laryssa, I want the lap band also! I have GHI. I was recently was told that GHI dont cover that type of weight loss surgery. So when i called my Doctor, a nice woman told me that yes GHI doesnt approve the lap band. So what happens is that the Insurance people at my doctors office would fight the denial and then GHI would approve the surgery the 2nd time around! Well good luck laryssa! I would everything goes well. Daniel

Good Morning Daniel, How frustrating! What are you planning on doing about it, are you still going to pursue the band? I know I am and right now, I am going to work on appealing it and also sending a letter to my husbands human resource dept, at his job. Do you have GHI cbp? Keep me posted...I wish you lots of luck and very smooth- sailing! Laryssa

I'm sure you already know this, but GHI does cover RNY. That's how I had mine! Good luck with your appeals.
