Hi everybody! I am in the process of finding a specialist to do my psyc eval and one of them stated that she makes an assessment after 3 - 10 visits, which sounds like a lot to me I am using different ones than my surgeon recommended because his did not take my insurance (Empire BC/BX) What's the norm for the number of visits to do the evaluation. Thanks for your help and best wishes to everybody Karen

Karen- I have heard varying reports but I only met with the psychiatrist once. We talked about my history, ect and that was it. I have heard of people having to go twice and some having to take a personality test. 3-10 visits does seem like an awful lot to me too. Good luck with your search. Janet

Hi Karen~~ One visit was all that was needed for my dr. I agree with Janet 3-10 visits, seems like alot. Why don't you call your surgeons office and discuss this number with them. They might even help you find a different dr in your plan! Good Luck and keep us posted on your journey!!

I think they sometimes want to make a paitent of us rather than just do the eval and let us move on. ( in the busniess to make some cash I guess) When I made my appointment I called around and I said when I made it I am looking for a single appointment to get an evalutaion for WLS has the Doctor done these before? And if they said yes I would say agian " and this is done in a single appointment?" and wait for the "yes" if I dident get that I moved on to the next one. Then.. the Doctor called me back and mentioned 2 maybe 3 visits I mentioned I was needing the eval soon and that my insurance only approved an eval in one visit and not treatment, and that time was of the essance as WLS was going to be scheduled soon. This worled for me and I got it in one visit. At some point I worried I was being to much of a pain and it may backfire but I made out ok luckily. Good luck to you! Love Elaine
