I'm almost positive that Syracuse will take medicare. I have It and that is where Arnot was going to send me . Instead I chose to go with Dr. T I just really loved him and his staff. They were willing to take me in right where I was at with the process. Couldnt ask for a better Dr. or staff as far as I'm concern. Your friend could always set aup a payment plan on what wasnt covered by his insurance.

Here are a few excellent surgeons that definitely take Medicare - I am also on SSD.  The only thing is that I don't know if they take medicaid, I also have a medicare supplemental plan as well as medicaid, so I didn't need to use medicaid since between Medicare and my supplemental everything was paid for 100%.  Just know that he should be aware that medicare doesn't preapprove, so he has to prepared to pay out of pocket if denied after the fact.  They generally will approve you if you meet there requirements but there is always the chance.  It is also an advantage to have a surgeons office with a good insurance department that knows how and what to submit.  These surgeons that I am listing all have good insurance departements.  The only thing is they will all involve you to travel - one is in Westchester county and 2 are in New York City.

Dr Marc Bessler at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC - 212-305-4000 - this was my surgeon

Dr. Daniel Herron at Mt Sinai = don't know the phone but you can find it on the internet.  The only thing I didn't like about him was that he required most testing to be done at Mt Sinai.  I found that to be too far for me to travel for tests that I felt could be done locally.  My surgeon let me do everything locally except pre-op testing and the nutritional/NursePractioner consultation other than his appointments.

Dr. Cerabona at Westchester Medical Center - dont know the phone number but can get online
