I was informed that the sleeve is rarely covered by insurance. anyone know of a surgeon who performs gastric sleeve and accepts united healthcare in NYC/ westchester county area?

My insurance didn't cover it, but the surgeon appealed it and got approval within and hour of the denial.

It was also set-up as a two stager.  I needed to lose weight to make RNY safe.  So he stated that the VSG was stage 1 to lose weight the make the stage 2 RNY far less risky.

There ARE ways around it, if your surgeon is open to them.
