Hi Ladies and Gents!
I'm Nessa from Orange county.....
Well I'm the new kid in town I guess lol... I been reading up on all the different types of surgeries for a few years now, but didnt really want to make a commitment till now. I recently had gained more weight then should be on this little frame of mine and my health is starting to take a turn for the worse...My fiance is afraid of losing me and so is my mother...but to be honest I'm afraid of losing them both as well... all three of us are big and maybe by me looking into the WLS idea... will possibly get them motivated to change as well.w

Welcome,
This is a great place to do alot of research. Look at your lifestyle and see how all the options fit and make a decision thats right for you. There's no one size fits all. WLS is a very personal decision.
Good Luck!!!

While I would do my surgery 6 times over without even blinking, ignoring the risks is one of the worst things you can do.
If you're getting, a friend of a friend of a friend did it and gained everything back, or said it was the worst thing they ever did - those can be dismissed.
There are risks with ANY surgery. I would NOT have this surgery without being well informed of all the risks AND benefits. You have to be knowledgable to be your own best advocate!
Don't go in blind - get educated in everything associated.

I think I have the knowledge I need, I been reading up on all different types of WLS and I think I am ready for my next step.
Glad you're learning and going to become your own best advocate!
One book I would recommend is: Weight Loss Srugery for Dummies
It's a great book - it'll give you all the various operations, tell you what to expect pre and post-op and even has some great recipes written by a gourmet chef who has had WLS!!! (Chef Dave Fouts)
Good luck on your journey - we are here for you!
