Hey all!!!   I havent been on in a long time.  Thought it was time to check in.  I have gradually gained back around 30 pounds,  and just did my BMI and its 30,  now I am back in the obese category.  I work all the time,,  in my at home nail salon,  working 10-12 hours a day and then have to take care of everything else.  I am getting very discouraged and frustrated.  I am trying to eat good,  but I am almost 5 years out and I think my pouch has stretched.  I can eat quite a bit now,  and this scares me.  I am seeing a difference and feeling a difference.  My clothes dont fit.  I know I need to get active,  but its so hard with very very little time.  I eat on the run and I cook and eat late.  I had also been on hormones for 3  months and in that time period I gained 15 pounds and feel it.  I am so busy with clients that I cannot even make it to our local meetings anymore.

Our family had a recent eye opener,  RNY has changed 5 family members lives and many friends.  My youngest daughter being one of them.  Well, she is a college student and of course started partying,  and drinking soda,  you name it,  she did it.  She will be 3 years out in July.   She woke up very early one morning and was in excrutiating pain,  come to find out,  she had a perforated ulcer just below the stoma of her pouch an had to undergo emergency open surgery to repair the ulcer.  All related to her diet and drinking.  One and a half months later she had her gall bladder out,  and it was full of stones.  She is now on a very strict diet for life.  And it opened my eyes to no more caffeine amongst many other things I was letting myself eat again.

Can our pouchs or our stomas,  shrink back to where it should be???  I am willing to live on proteins shakes,  etc.  if I have to to get it back where it once was.

Hi,

I am far from being experienced about "shrinking" but my Yahoo WLS group states you should go back on the post-op diet for 1-2 weeks to help get you back on track.  Then go from there...treat yourself like you just had surgery and are starting out all over again.  They all say it has helped them.
