Help! Advice needed....

Hey everyone, I'm a new member and I'm currently 18 days post op from a RNY. I am having a VERY difficult time eating. To start with I have developed an issue with the protein shakes and my doctor suggested I not continue with them unless I could find sugar free, but even the sugar free bothers me. Now over the course of the last several days I find that I just can't eat. I am so nauseous that the thought of food makes me vomit. Then when I do eat, I can't even eat an entire scrambled egg,I have to stop and vomit. Plain water makes me nauseous even. Only ice cubes and popsicles don't make me ill. Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas what it could be? One person suggested a stricture, but I thought that was something that only happened a long time after surgery. Any input would be welcomed, I am really at my wits end. Thanks!

Hi Gina,
To my knowledge a stricture can happen at any point after surgery upto like six months I think. You should probably call your center and explain the symptoms and get advice from them. There is no point in feeling bad if you can fix it. HTH

Without a doubt, contact your surgeon. This is not normal. If it is a stricture, it is a very easy fix. Do not wait!!! You do not want to become weak and dehydrated, especially over a long holiday weekend.

Good luck and keep us informed.
Hugs,
Lisa
