Bariatric Nutritionist....please!

I know I have whined about this before, but....

I really need to find a bariatric nutritionist on Long Island.

I have a nutritionist at the hospital where I had my surgery, but I feel like she's just a regular nut., not a bariatric nut.

I called a few other doctors and bariatric centers in the area and they won't allow me to see their nut because I am not one of their patients--rediculous! If they are serving the bariatric community, they should serve it--not turn people away who are asking for help.

I did find one place that is willing to see me, but it's $125 bucks and I just can't pay that right now.

So, if anybody has any suggestions, I would be eternally grateful!

I used Lauren at Good Smaritan...you can call and ask if they are bariatric but I do think they are.

Yeah, I  currently use Lauren....she's very sweet, but even though they call her bariatric, I find she doesn't know many things I ask. Plus, I have called her twice and left messages, with no return call.

So, I just feel I need to look elsewhere. I want the nutritionist to give ME information, not the other way around....

But thanks for the input...it's nice to see a fellow Cussatti'er =)

Hey,

I've used Optimal Nutrition (Jo Ann and Amy). They were my nutritionists at the hospital where I had my surgery. They have gone to GSH and talked and also come to our events there (fashion show etc). I have also referred others to them who have been pleased with them and continue to use them. They also have (had) what they call a 'bariatric back on track' program. They are in Lindenhurst. Let me know if you want their info.
