Hi everyone,

Does anyone have Dr. Daniel Davis (Columbia Presbyterian & Valley Center for WLS) ???

I am scheduled for RNY on July 20th; did you have a drain? how are you healing? how do you feel today?

thanks,

I used Dr Bessler at Columbia Presbyterian -  I think they work together.  I had 2 drains.  One they took out before I left the hospital and the other one they took out at my 2 week followup.  The second one is because I had previous abdominal surgery - not everyone gets the second drain.  I had my surgery in Oct. 2008.  I am doing well.  I had to go back in for exploratory surgery in May for abdominal pain - turns out I had adhesions and a twisted intestines - now I feel great.  I am so glad I did it.  I have lost 72 pounds in 7 1/2 months.  I have 28 pounds to go.

I wish you all the best.

Thank you so much for your reply :)

Yes, Dr. Bessler and Dr. Davis are partners.  I had my gallbladder out a few years ago, so I will probably have the 2nd drain, too.

I am getting over my fear of the drain as my date gets closer, lol.  They just look like they hurt, but everyone says they're not a big deal.

Thanks again, and congratulations on your incredible weight loss!!

They don';t hurt at all.  They are just annoying to move around in and to get dressed - the tube is always in the way.  The worst is having it taken out but it only lasts a few seconds.
