This Time Last Year....

I was still in recovery....I remember waking up while under the knife...I remember feeling tugging and pulling on my stomach (in my gut). I remember waking up and panicing that I could not breath. I remember being moved off the table to the bed. I remember trying to move my hands and neck to prove that I could breath on my own. I remember feeling "out of it". I remember alot AFTER the operation.I remember  what ever caused me to fear the operation. I remember how bad it felt to go to a restauraunt and have to sit at a table and not a booth. I remember the embarrasment having to buy the biggest size on the clothing rack at the BIG AND TALL STORE and wondering if it would fit.

I am down about 200 lbs now, and although I have some really bad leg problems, I am better off now than I was a year ago. 3 hospitalizations in the past year, but Tuesday, I went fishing, and guess what? I wore a 1x shirt. That's right...a 1x shirt!

Tim - Just reading this 5/3/09 buyt wanted to say yeah for you!!! You've come a long way, baby!!
I am glad you remember all of those things before your surgery and even after words.  I try to do the same thing and it does help.  I am sure you had a lot of support before, during and after your surgery which helps so much to keep you focused.  I am sorry for your leg problems - Iknow, I['ve had them, too, perhaps not to your extent but my doctor told me friday after a visit that I was going to die.  His words were very sobering to me.  He did say, maybe not tomorrow or a year from now, but you woud've been dead easily by age 60 (I'm 54 now) -it just sortof hit me right in the gut.  So, be proud of what you have accomplished, you have a new lease on your life, so celebrate it!! I am sure you are/will!  Again, TIm, a big congrats - you deserve it as you have been through alot to get healthy (and hopefully happy!!) Take good care, Mary
