I am a geek and have this intense need to feel "connected" to my friends and family through my cell and facebook.I was reading my paperwork from Ellis and it mentions NO CELL PHONES and you have use a paid service of like 10 bucks a day?? but it's just local calling?? all my family is in another state along with all my friends.. is it true they don't allow cells even in patient rooms?   Also does anyone know if they have wireless internet for patients?? like could I bring my laptop ?  Probably sounds petty but this is comfort to me.

Cell phones are a no no in some hospitals due to interfere with hospital equipment; therefore, cell phones must be turned off whilst in the facility. And also new studies prove  drug-resistant MRSA

I was just in the hospital at Ellis for 3 days last week, and had my cell phone with me every second...even in the ER.  They dont care.  Some of the old nurses may say something...but cell phones do nothing to the machines... that was pretty much an old rule, but mine rang in the room and I made plenty of cals out...bring it... the nurse even plugged mine in to charge for me :)

I don't know about wifi, but I did use my cell phone while in the hosptial.  I also can't remember the charge to get the TV turned on.  I think it is easier if you have a credit card.

Good luck.
