I have my first appointment with Dr. Dunnican at Albany Medical Center on Wednesday.  For anyone that's had surgery at albany med, how far out was your surgery date from that visit??  And also, if anyone's met Dr. Dunnican I would love to hear about your experience with him.  Thanks!!

You are going to learn fast that everybody has a different journey. For some, it was 6 months...for some...2 years....

Depending on all of your hoops you have to go through and your speed of weight loss...and Insurance requirements...it could be about a year.

CDPHP requires 6 months of the programed diet/exercise regiment. you have to prove to Insurance that you are trying.

I've been in the program for 8 months now.  I've lost all the weight I have to except for 5 pounds.  I've met all the requirements as far as everything else goes.  I was just wondering how long it takes to get a date after everythings completed and you meet the surgeon.  What happens during the first visit with the surgeon?

For me... When I met Dr. Dunnican , it was 5 weeks till surgery. I had lost all my weight and was all cleared by my insurance.  ( United H.C. )

hope it helps

wow...that's fast.  I thought the wait would be a few months before you could get in for surgery.  Was he strict about the weight loss, or do you think he will still schedule me even if it's not all gone yet?

I would think so because 5 lbs in 5 weeks should be no sweat.......
