Home from Surgery
Hi NY OH'ers,
I had my RNY on 4/7 and came home yesterday. So far, everything seems to be going well. The hospital stay was rough for me but now that I'm home I feel 100x better. Physically, my pain is minimal and I don't feel the need for pain meds or tylenol. Psychologically, this is really challenging. I'm just really afraid that I will have complications or that I'll never enjoy eating again or that this was the worst decision of my life. I'm struggling with eating because everything I've tried is disgusting to me. That's definitely a first!
My mom and my sister have been so wonderful nursing me and I don't know how I would have done this without them.
Thanks to all of you on OH who have been so supportive.

Welcome Home, you Loser!!! haha Hope you know I meant that in a good way! lol
I'm glad you're not having too much pain, that is definitely a good sign!!
It's so nice to have loved ones taking care of you! My mom and husband were awesome after my surgery!
Try not to let your mind run to all the bad things that could happen! I know it's hard because this is a scary and new experience, but you'll start feeling so good that those things won't be as scary anymore!
Just focus on getting in your fluids and protein and walking...=)
I wish you the best in your journey!!!
POSE LI's first meeting is going to be April 23rd and we'd love to see you there!!! The meeting is at Speno Park Town Hall building at 6:30 pm =)

You are going to be just fine. You've just been through a huge trauma and will need time to adjust to all the newness of this new way of life. Feel what you feel (the mourning of food, etc.) but stick to your guidelines. Before you know it all of the new things you are doing will be second nature. You are going to feel so good, so energetic and so healthy. And you will enjoy eating ... just give yourself some time.
All the best to you --
