I am SO EXCITED!  I've been thinking about this for a few years, and recently decided now is the time... so I called my insurance company first, found out what the requirements for coverage are, then researched doctors... found one locally who came highly recommended by my PCP's nurse (PCP is new to the area, didn't know anyone).

Called a week and half ago, was sent the "packet" questionaire.  Filled that out, hand delivered it on Tuesday.  Got a phone call TODAY that they've accepted me into their program!  I am SO HAPPY!  My first official appointment is April 23rd, and orientation is May 11... I have to do the "6 month plan" based on insurance, so that puts my surgery (if approved) in October... YIPPEE~!

I am on my way to changing my life, FINALLY!~

Yes I am!  I hear he's a fantastic surgeon... he actually did two procedures on my dad... a hernia repair and cancer biopsy.

Glen Aubrey isn't too far from here.  Do you attend any of the support meetings in Vestal??

Welcome to our humble abode... LOL It is a wonderful rollercoaster ride you are about to embark on.I LOVE my RNY. I wasn't a personal fan of Dr T, I went with the Arnot Group.. but everyones different.
Change is such a wonderful thing. Since surgery I had gotten the confidence to finally go back for my LPN.. and maybe even go on to RN after that. I feel so much better almost all of the time (right now I have a flu bug ick)

that's awesome!  I gave up nursing when my son had a kidney transplant... Didn't want to jeapordise his health by bringing yucky stuff home... go figure, but he's the healthiest one of the bunch!

Speaking of my son, he's the current Children's Miracle Network poster kid for the Binghamton area.  If you watch Channel 12 news at 5:30, you'll see his promo spot of him running in the yard with our beagle!

Dr. T was my surgeon. He is a fantastic surgeon! He is the trauma Dr. for Wilson, Lordes, and Bing General. He also does WLS as he has taken a special interest in it. Dr. T actually had stopped doing weight loss surgeries for a little while, he only continued when his demands for a "program" was developed for patients to go through before and after surgery. I look up to him for wanting more out of his program! He may not have the best bed side manors as many would say but he knows what he is doing! I do know when I seen Dr. T for the 1st time he let me ask any questions, he answered them, he let me have an input in which surgery I wanted and why. I like him very much! Thanks to Dr. T I am done 79 pounds and have a whole new look on life!

Good Luck!
I am sure I will sure you sometime at the pre-and post- surgery support groups.
ps...Mickey (phys) is a hoot... I just love love love her!  Maureen (dietitian) is very informative, Lynn and Liz (Dr.T's nurses) are both very pleasant and helpful. Heather and Jennifer (secretaries) are awesome, they both are in the non surgical group. I also wanna say Michelle in the billing dept is the bomb! She has help tremendously with insurance issues!  I think I covered pretty much everyone in the office that I dealt with...lol.

Thanks for the info!  Jennifer was so sweet on the phone when she called with the news.  I think she was just as excited as I was.  I told her I wanted to hug her through the phone!

Hopefully we'll run into each other!  I'm terribly shy IRL, so if you see me, say hey!  I might not recognise you IRL (Especially since you've already had the procedure and are "shrinking!:)

she seemed to have that kind of personality!  Is she the blonde in the front office??  If so, she's the one who took my questionaire when I came in.  Whoever the blonde is was really sweet, too.
