Update...

Hello. I was in the hospital from 3/2 thru 3/26 with a really super bad cellulitis infection in my right leg. I lost mobility in that leg and because of the lymphedema, it acted as an incubator for the infection. I was very septic. The doctors discussed 2 surgeries but shot both operations down due to my inability to fght off the infection(s) (staff-the kind that isnt spreadable and strep) that resided in my body all along. They put me on the strongest antibiotics out there (zyvox and invance) after ansef and two different kinds of pennicilins were ineffective. I am on strict bed rest/house rest for a few weeks. I am still on IV antibiotics that I administer to myself. They put in a picc line before I left.

When my Doc told me I would be admitted for a few days..I decided to "jumpstart" my pouch and get back on track. My wife purchased some unflavored whey protien at GNC and I practically lived on yogart with a scoop of protien and a carton of milk per meal. I lost 60 lbs in 25 days.

Anywho....that is my update.

Hi Tim - Wow! You have been thru quite a bit - Hope you are on your way to feeling much better.  I have had cellulitis several times (always in my lower legs) and I also suffer with lymphedema.  Do you have any lympedema specialists in your area? I went to my local p.t. dept. and had a lymphedema therapist work with me.  My legs have improved so much and my cellulitis chances are much less now.  Just a thought you might want to look in to.  I have stockings to wear now which help alot.  Alot of doctors just aren't familiar enough with lymphedema to know exactly how to treat it.  If you could find a therapist I believe it would help you greatly.  Didn't mean to preach just thought you might like to know that this type of therapy is out there and does work.  Best of luck to you - hope you heal up well.  Take care Mary

The vascular dude is going to try the deep subcantaneous tissue massage and wraps...as soon as I can get off bed rest. If I can get the legs down to stocking size...I will GLADLY wear them to live as normal (figuratively speaking) of a life as possible. I am desperately needing smaller pants...but I cannot wear them due to my massive mastiff elephant legs
