Anyone had WLS by Dr. Peter Kwon?

Hi all,

I have an appointment for a full day (9:00AM-4:00PM) seminar at Dr. Peter Kwon's office (Tri-State Bariatrics) this coming Thursday.  It'll be educational and I'll meet with the dietician, nurse practitioner, inusrance specialist and certified bariatric nurse that day.  I had called for a preliminary consult with Dr. Kwon and was told I have to attend the seminar first.  Not a problem with me really.

I'm just curious if anyone has had surgery with Dr. Kwon and what I might expect next in the process of actually getting to see him and then getting to the point of scheduling a date.  I'm also curious if you had Lap-Band or Lap RNY.  I'm leaning towards RNY but he specializes in Lap-Band, having done over 1200 of them and is actually certified by the Lap-Band folks to train others in the procedure.

 Hi there-- I love Dr Kwon and his staff !!!  I had my lapband placed a little over a year ago.  I am very pleased with the whole office staff-- very caring and helpful.

You will have to do several medical clearances before anything else.  They will walk you through everything that needs to be done. There is also a psych evaluation that is not covered through insurance and that was the only part I did not care for.  I had to pay the psychiatrist cash for the evaluation and felt that it was a total waste of money for the service provided.   Not to worry-- the psychiatrist is not part of Dr Kwon's staff-- she is totally separate. 

Since my surgery last year-- I have lost a total of  90 lbs.  I also had to do a supervised diet for three months for my insurance carrier.  I went from a size 28 jeans to a size 14 and some 12's.  I couldn't be happier.  I am pretty much at the doctors goal, but I want to lose another 10 lbs.
