patients of Dr. Garber

I have noticed that my post op eating instructions are very different from a lot of people. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this. I was put on a pureed diet while still in the hospital. Most people I see are on liquds for 2 weeks then go to pureed.

Hi!  I'm scheduled with Dr. Garber on 6/1/09, and in all the reading that his office has given me and conversations with him, I too have noticed that they try to get you on a pureed diet before leaving the hospital.  Couldn't tell ya why though.

I spoke with the PA about it today, and she assured me that it was ok to be in stage 2. And yes they gave me tuna salad and pears while still in the hospital. Good luck on your surgery. Are you excited? The staff at Mercy is incredible. they were wonderful to me and I am thankful for all their help. You have nothing to worry about.

I am a Dr. Garber patient, and YES YES YES his diet was very different than most other doctors. Even his PRE-op instructions were totally different.

TRUST IN DR. GARBER! He knows what he's doing; follow his rules, his ways. He's been doing this for so long and knows what works and what doesn't. Additionally, he's got different attitudes on swallowing pills post-op, which was a LIFE-SAVER! Check with him if you are having issues with pills (I was on tons and tons and crushing them was a nightmare from H*LL)

Does dr garber use protein shakes?

Yes, but there is no pre-op liquid diet, and you don't have to specifically use the shakes that he sells. But shakes are an easy way to get your protien in.

my second consult is 4/23...i would like to have the surgery 5/5 or that week or the next week!
