Feels like I wa**** by a truck
Holy Moly I was not prepared for this, My surgery don't hurt as much as my shoulders do. They are killing me. Nurses are telling me it's from gas and I need to walk but I feel it is from my arms laying straight out during surgery because my hands went numb. Besides walking and a heating pad or ben gay can someone suggest something
Rosemary is correct. The "gas" they use to blow up your abdomin (gives them more room to work if they blow you up like a balloon) causes this discomfort. Walk, walk and walk some more. For me the gas pains would be a sharp pain right between the shoulder blades. Really the only thing that helped was walking and time.
As to the tylenol, be careful. I am guessing the pain medication you are taking for surgical pain, will already contain a full dose of tylenol (lortab, vicodin, drugs that end in "cet" i.e. percocet, darvocet)
This will pass, it is part of the healing/recovery process. I am sure that you will be feeling much better very soon.
Good Luck
Jim

John,
Welcome to the loser's bench! I am so happy to see that you are well enough to post. I didn't sit at my computer for weeks after my surgery.
Everyone is correct... the best thing to do for the gas is walk. It is normal to hurt up into your shoulders after a laparoscopic procedure. As you know, they blow up your abdomen with gas to see around. You need to move around to help break it up. Hang in there, it will get better in a few days.
Make sure you have some "before" pictures. As much as you may hate to see yourself in photos now, it's a great reminder of how far you have come. Plus, we would love to add your pics to the brag book! Can't wait to see less of you at the next LIPO meeting.
Hugs,
Lisa
PS Don't forget to sip sip sip tha****er!

Hey John!
Well, I am so glad you're home! But, I'm so sorry you're having this pain! After my surgery, my lower back was killing me! I couldn't lie in bed on my back due to the pain, but also couldn't lie on my sides from the incisions. It was a little difficult! So, I understand how ya feel, though hopefully yours is gas and will dissipate soon.
Is the pain any better if you sit up or recline? Or does it hurt all the time? I've heard people say that sometimes they can find a position that isn't as uncomfortable.
Well, I wish you a very speedy recovery! And, I can't wait to see less of you at the next meeting!
Big hugs,
Heather =)
