William O'Malley and the team at Highland Hospital
Hi all. Does anyone have experience with Dr. O'Malley in Rochester? good or bad? Also looking for a support group in Syracuse, NY. I am early on into the process of this journey. I am excited but very cautious. My sister had RNY last year and has had awful complications with life altering, devestating consequences.
Hello! Yes, Dr. O'Malley is very good and he has a great program. It takes time to get through all of his required steps, but it is a fabulous program. I live a little over an hour southeast of Syracuse, so I do not follow up with the Rochester support group, nor do I know about Syracuse support groups - sorry :(
Good luck to you...keep positive and follow the rules!

Dr O'malley is my surgeon too and I am completely comfortable with him. His entire staff has been great to work with too. My surgery is on Wednesday--can't wait!!

hi, I am just beginning my journey as well but I have heard great reviews on Dr. O'Malley. I am from the Auburn, Ny area so if you want to talk put me on your friend's list.
I had the gastric bypass back in the late 80's and did very well, and now I am looking for a revision. My sister also had it done a year later and like your sister she has extreme difficulties. But don't let her journey discourage you because everyone is different. this journey is not cut out for everyone and some people do have problems, and some don't follow directions and cause there own problems. Just make sure you are ready for the journey. And although I think its taking a long time to get there believe me it will be worth it and alot better than it was a long time ago when you were on your own.

I'm having the DS May 13th. My friend had the RNY a couple of years ago and is doing great. I've been very happy with Highland so far. I drive from 3 hours away. It is a long process, but worth it. They have great sucess rates I think, in part, due to their selectivity. They just won't operate on someone they don't feel is committed enough to the lifestyle change or in good enough health to undergo surgery. I've heard Dr O'Malley say twice that he will not do revisions. Maybe there's a loop-hole, but he seemed pretty adament.
