unflavored protein reccomendations?
Many stock up only to find their taste changes postop and they did not save any money instead wasted a ton! Protein samples may be a wise investment once you have surgery find what you can stomach then buy a tub of it! Just food for thought!
i never have used unflavored, flavor all the way for me! I stuck with PVL whey gourmet with 15 flavors I never get board at 6 1/2 yrs out! I also like champion PW stach banaan and chocolate, I also do some of the nectars from time to time, apple and fuzzynavel they are like koolaid now creamy like others...mix with ice and water not milk and some sf davincis syrups to add extra zing! You can do alot with a vanilla or white chocolate and sf syrups! (eggnog, pumpkin, B52, irish cream/kahlua for mudslide taste w/o alcohol! etc)
www.vitalady.com or www.bariatriceating.com have samples
Here is list I had from 9/2008 prices may differ now!
Hi, this is the one MOST people refer to when using unflavored protein:
ANYWHEY is an unflavored protein. You can cook with it too!
(***70 calories a scoop/0g fat/1g carb (no sugar carbs)/17 G protein)
60 scoops/container
http://www.optimumnutrition.com/anywhey/default.html they have recipes!
I think 34g protein for 2 scoops/140 calories is DARN GOOD!
Made by optimum nutrition.
GNC carries it I believe.
or online many places

I DO NOT KNOW if you can cook w/ this though?

Then there is Unjury: (*I know many like/many do not..I have NEVER used it but fwd for your info only its too expensive in my opinion)
http://www.unjury.com/reg/unflavored.shtml
http://www.unjury.com/reg/nutrition.shtml
1 scoop= 80 calories/0 g fat/0g carbs/20 g protein
ONLY 17 Scoops a container!
Unflavored
The price per 11.6 oz container (~15 scoops) of UNJURY is $16.95 for the first, and $15.95 for each additional.
UNJURY (UNFLAVORED) Ingredients: Pure Whey Protein Isolate
UU is good to add to cold and warm beverages and soups, but not HOT liquids.
Do not heat the beverage or soup above 130 degrees F.
UU works in baked and cooked recipes such as brownies and scrambled eggs.
IMPORTANT NOTE: high cooking or baking heat does NOT destroy the protein or the protein value, but in liquids, the heat can make the proteins more clumpy. Even if this happens, you are still getting your protein. It's much like cooking eggs or meat. They change texture when cooked, but cooked, they still provide complete protein.
In many recipes you'll find UNFLAVORED to be virtually undetectable, but some will notice some flavor in some recipes. For example, in Crystal Lite, some detect no flavor to UU, and some can tell it's there. As with all UNJURY products, we guarantee 100% satisfaction.
Thank you very much to all of you who have tried it and given us your great suggestions and recipes!! We will soon have recipes on our Recipes page, but here are some initial ideas for ways to use "UU":
· Jello INSTANT sugar free pudding
· Crystal Lite and Sugar-Free Tang
· Chicken broth (not HOT, only warm)
· Soups such as cream of chicken (not HOT, only warm)
· Scrambled eggs
· Mixed with milk it is undetectable if you just want to have the flavor of milk...on cereal or in a glass.
· Orange Juice

Thank you for all of the info! It is much appreciated. I figured I would start trying some durring my week of liquid diet. I did order nectar samples and was hoping to find an unflavored at vitamin shoppe or gnc since you can return it if you don't like it. I had heard about the not heating of protein supplements but I didn't know there was one you could cook with. I always feel overwhelmed in the health stores. Thanks again
