I'm looking into weight loss surgery centers in the nyc area, and have came across New York Presbyterian Center for Obesity Surgery, and Cornell Weight Loss surgery program that both take my insurance. Just wondering if anyone has been a patient at either of these two programs, and your thoughts of them. Any imput would be great! thanks

I had my surgery there in June 2005, and it saved my life. They are the most caring and professinal program you could hope for.  Come to a support group meeting to meet other pre and post op patients.

I guess I'm a bit confused.  Columbia Presbyterian and Weill Cornell are both under the umbrella New York Presbyterian.  They're sister hospitals.  Are these what you're referring to?

Duodenal Switch/Lap -- Drs. Alfons Pomp & Michel Gagner - New York City

4/4/05: 265 lbs/BMI: 45.6

4/11/05: 256 lbs/BMI: 43.9 (date of surgery)

7/27/08: Gallbladder Removed

Yes Im aware they are sister hospitals. But each program has different surgeons that preform the surgeries.

Ah, ok.

I met with Dr. Inabnet at Col. Presby. and Drs. Pomp and Gagner and Weill Cornell so I've seen both sides.

Dr. Inabnet seemed fine to me.  I chose the other 2 because I'd seen them first and they seemed more inclined to perform the surgery I was interested in.  Dr. Inabnet wasn't as enthusiastic.  That's no slight on Dr. Inabnet.  As I said, he seemed to be a decent guy & has a pretty good reputation.  Maybe you'd consider attending a support group at each hospital?
