Hello!
I had RNY with Dr. Singh Lap 10/9/2002!
I have facilitated support groups as well as run preop psychological education seminars for AMC's Bariatric program as well; as Amy stated how can we help and it is a very multidisciplinary program that seems to continually improve all the time!

I was using Albany Clinical Nutrition in Slingerlands. Some of them have now joined with the AMC group so you can make all your appointments at the South Clinical Campus.
In the hospital, I was very impressed with the staff and care provided at AMC. I am an RN and so I think that I see lots of things that "civilians" wouldn't see. I was impressed! I have worked in the best and some of the worst hospitals and AMC definitely ranks up with the best.
What questions do you have?
The Thursday evening general support group is wonderful. We talk about everything.
I would certainly recommend this group and hospital.

Since this is your first visit to the surgeon, he will examine you for sure. He will likely discuss your options, what he thinks is best for you. If you have questions - write them down and bring that with you. He is there to make sure that you understand completely what you are doing, ansering your questions assures him that you understand. If he tells you something that doesn't make sense ask him to explain it again.
Don't be surprised if he/she brings in a intern/resident - Albany Med is a teaching hospital. They all have to learn somewhere. You are asked if it is okay. If you are not comfortable with that just say so. If the student does the exam the doctor is right there to make sure it is done right. This happened when I saw the nutritionist.
Good luck - are you going to the support group? The Thursday meetings are great. Hope to see you there. Deb
